Aaron and Rachel’s relationship started in 2008 when Aaron took Rachel to the Wildcatter Ranch Steakhouse for their first date. On the way home, the two decided to take the long way home to visit a little longer. On the backroads of Young County Rachel wanted to find deer. Aaron tried (unsuccessfully) to convince her that deer “round here” do not come out until midnight, so they had to drive around until midnight if they expected to have any luck at all. Rachel did not believe him because, growing up in the country herself, she knew better. However, after driving down the county road for a few minutes, the clock struck 12:00 am. Right at that exact moment, the first of many deer of the night was spotted! At that point, Aaron shot Rachel the “I told you so” look and the smile that she would later fall in love with.
Fast forward 4 years later…Aaron told Rachel that he was going to take her on a surprise trip, but would not tell her when or where. Rachel loves surprises, but hates not knowing what is going on. After holding the details over her head for a few weeks, he finally told her the trip would be on her 30th birthday weekend. As they were driving away for the weekend, Aaron finally told her they were going to spend the weekend at the Wildcatter Ranch where they went on their first date four years earlier. Of course, she was very excited because they love going there! At dinner, among the crowded restaurant patrons, all of a sudden he stops Rachel and tells her how much he loves her then gets down on one knee and proposes! (…and she said YES!)
