Sandals South Coast Destination Wedding Review

Hey Jennifer,

Thanks for checking in! Everything went really well. Our expectations were pretty high ever since we visited and Sandals did not disappoint. We were worried that the wedding process would have too much of a corporate feel, but it was really just the opposite.

Our wedding coordinator was Shaday James and she was an absolute superstar. It felt sincere when she was offering additions before the wedding (we added a few more things, but nothing crazy). We were worried that they would be trying to upsell us wherever possible. The welcome dinner was beautiful and the food was delicious.

The Wedding

On the wedding day, everyone was very helpful.   Additionally, there was a short period of light rain that started around 3:30 (4pm wedding ceremony) which got us a bit flustered. The staff was awesome and kept us positive the whole time. They ended up pushing the ceremony off by about 20 minutes to let the rain pass. We even got a rainbow out of it. Recardo James did our photography. We felt very comfortable with him and are happy with how the photos came out. He ended up taking almost 600 photos for us to review.

The one thing we would change about the wedding reception is the lighting. We should have added some more lights under the pergolas around the Italian pool. The reception started around 6:15pm and the Patriots/Chiefs AFC championship game started around 6:30. The majority of the people at the wedding were big Patriots fans. After several discussions, Krystyna and I decided that we were better off getting a projector and streaming the game through the reception instead of having everyone on their phones constantly checking for updates. This actually worked out really well.

The Reception:

Everyone was up dancing and watching at the same time. The Patriots ended up winning in overtime right toward the end of the reception. Our awesome bartenders even got in on the action and popped two bottles of champagne and sprayed them over everyone. It was really fun.

We had at least 4 people from our group tell us how lovely the wedding was, even going as far as saying that it was the best wedding that they had attended. That was really heartwarming. There were so many amazing moments that it is hard to pick just one that was the best. We had a great time.

On what was supposed to be our last day, we felt that we had not really had any time to ourselves yet to just sit and relax. We ended up extending our vacation for one extra day which was really amazing and totally worth it. Sandals even gave us the distressed traveler rate (since the resort wasn’t at capacity) for the final night. The butlers (Kamar and Joya) were awesome. Writing this email makes me want to go back right now (especially since we just got a foot of snow)!

Thanks again for all of your help. This is our 3rd time using VIP (my brother’s wedding, a random vacation, our wedding) and your team has been fantastic each and every time. You will surely be hearing from us again in the future.
