7 Reasons Why You Need a Getaway Now

While it may only be September and the summer break has winded down, for many people autumn is the ideal time to take a vacation—especially for employees who work in industries where summer is the busiest time of year. But even if you’re not stressed to the max from your job, a trip may be just the change of scenery you need to turn over a new leaf.

Getaways don’t have to mean a typical vacation, though. You could schedule a therapeutic retreat, go on a mission trip or take a extreme vacation filled with mountain climbing, rapids or zip lining. Whatever destination calls you, here are seven reasons you need to listen to the inner voice that whispers: Bon Voyage!

1.         You need to heal from a break-up.

If you just ended a relationship, take the opportunity to get away from the routine and the possible bad vibes or sadness and head somewhere fresh. Maybe a beach vacation soothes your soul, or perhaps you’re ready to jump back into the dating scene and want to take a singles cruise. Book a soul-searching or relaxing getaway to heal your heart, invigorate your soul and ease your mind back into state of blissful happiness.

2.         You’re celebrating a major milestone!

Turning 40? Or maybe you landed a dream job but don’t start for a few weeks. Whatever milestone you’ve hit or wish to celebrate, begin that new phase of your life in style.  Even better? Take a friend or loved one with you and to share the memories!

3.         You want to discover your roots.

Not all of us are native to our country. If you’ve ever wanted to travel to your ancestors’ homeland, schedule some vacation time and go back to your roots. Whether your family hails from France, Italy, Africa, Asia or somewhere else on the globe, visit the land that holds your family ties. And remember to savor the local cuisine! Just be sure to check with your doctor to make sure you don’t need any new vaccinations when traveling abroad!

4.         It’s time to schedule a sabbatical.

What’s a sabbatical? The word has biblical terms and means “bringing a period of rest.” Your sabbatical may be religious in nature, or it can be a personal quest for peace and serenity, like a yoga retreat or a wilderness-based excursion. If, however, a sabbatical is a religious experience and a vacation for your soul, then travel to a destination sacred to you and your beliefs and use the experience to become closer to your faith.

5.         You’re ready to start a family.

If you and your beloved are ready to make the leap into parenthood, pick a destination that serves as the ultimate reminder of the baby’s earliest beginnings. A nearby bed-and-breakfast or perhaps a seaside resort sets the mood for romance! Set the mood with red rose petals scattered on the bed…because nothing exudes deep love and passion like the red rose!

6.         You want to create a magical marriage proposal.

For the most memorable marriage proposal, schedule a trip somewhere special. No, you don’t have to head to Paris (although you could!). Pick somewhere romantic that you know your beloved will adore! All-inclusive resorts are perfect engagement destinations, as many of them are marketed to couples.

7.         Just because!

You don’t always need a reason to take a vacation or just a weekend getaway. If you’re tired of the same of situation and scenery, book a trip for you! Find a destination that makes you happy and…go!

Start checking out all the locations you want to visit! Set your budget, make a list and start your research. Your dream vacation awaits! No matter what reason you need to escape, book your getaway and savor the moments of relaxation and time away from work, stress, school or sadness. Bon voyage!
